The president of the Deliberative Council of Necochea, Guillermo Sánchez, analyzed the current situation and the future of the Casino Complex and pointed to the importance of private investment to recover and reactivate this emblematic building.
In a radio interview, Sánchez showed his concern about the fate of the Necochea Casino and asked to speed up the bidding process. “If not, who is going to buy it?” he expressed.
In this line, he assured that time “proved them right”, referring to the need to attract private investment in the place, a position that, according to his statements, has been recognized even by leaders of the political opposition.
The councilor also supported the management of Mayor Arturo Rojas and the progress in the maintenance of the city: “Necochea is clean, orderly, the park is better and the river is beautiful.”
It should be remembered that, weeks ago, Mayor Rojas also called for accelerating the casino bidding process. During the launch of the first ball of the year, he stated: “Hopefully this will be the year in which the Province of Buenos Aires, through the Institute, can carry out the bidding process that we are so eagerly awaiting.”
Anniversary
This week marks 52 years since the opening of the Necochea Casino Complex. On February 9, 1973, in front of more than 5,000 people, the then Minister of Social Welfare of the Nation, Oscar Puiggrós, presided over the inauguration ceremony of the first stage of the work, which included the games room, the confectionery and the commercial gallery.
At that time, it was considered an unparalleled work in Latin America, advanced for the time and facing the sea, comprising constructions on a 22,000 m2 site.
Financed by the National Charity Lottery and Casinos, the project was designed by the architect Roberto Quiroz and carried out by the company Seminara Sociedad Anónima. In order to lay the foundations, a 12-meter-high dune had to be removed and 90,000 cubic meters of sand moved.
The second stage that completed the project was inaugurated on January 4, 1975, comprising the auditorium theater with 350 seats, the boite, the swimming pool, the sauna, the skating rink and the bowling space, among other services.
