Santa Fe Police reported that an operation against illegal gambling in the city of Rosario concluded with the closure of a clandestine casino, the seizure of two gaming tables, and the detention of 10 people involved.

The operation was carried out during the early morning of May 8 and was the result of a neighbor’s report to 911, who accused them of “disorder at a clandestine party.”

In this regard, the deputy chief of Regional Unit II of the Santa Fe Police, Mariano Govi, revealed that the police personnel arrived at the establishment in question and were surprised to notice “people sitting around some gaming tables.”

“A person came out and admitted that they were carrying out this type of activity. Then, [the agents] made all the people leave, detained them, and proceeded to seize two complete gaming tables with chips, some cash, and various notes that indicated possible money transfers,” he said.

Govi pointed out that, given “the obvious situation of clandestine gambling,” the police consulted the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which “ordered the transfer and detention of all these people and the referral of the procedure to the police station.”

“There are also cell phones seized and other evidence that relates them to the activity of clandestine gambling,” he specified.

Finally, the deputy police chief highlighted the importance of using 911 “for everything that is prevention, strange movements, outsiders, which has a positive result in disrupting this type of activity.”
