The works being carried out on the property that once housed the San Rafael casino will be completed by July of this year. The site, which has been unused for five years, will be used for the new offices of the General Directorate of Schools and Childhood (DGE) for the South, the Civil Registry, and the Provincial Institute of Games and Casinos (IPJyC) of Mendoza.

According to the media outlet Sitio Andino, the establishment, located in the heart of downtown San Rafael, covers almost 1,700 square meters of covered area. The remodeling work, which began in September, included a total investment of ARS 1.6 billion, financed entirely with provincial funds.

The vice-governor of the province of Mendoza, Hebe Casado, commented on the matter: “We know that this corner was abandoned for a long time, that it had been vandalized, and that we have several offices of different provincial agencies rented in different places and we want them to operate here.”

“The DGE offices will be on one side and the Civil Registry offices on the other, we believe that the work will be finished in July,” she added.

This is an emblematic place, it is very important for us, and we want the interaction with the state to be simpler, faster, and more comfortable,” declared Natalio Mena, Minister of Government, in relation to the procedures that can be carried out in the new location.

It should be remembered that last year the IPJyC of Mendoza signed an agreement with the Ministry of Education, through which it ceded the former San Rafael casino building to move a delegation of the DGE and a civil registry there.
