Betting Operators Rush to Apply for Licenses in Brazil

Betsson, Galera.bet, and F12.bet are among the latest companies to apply for betting licenses in Brazil, following the recent publication of the market’s final regulations.

With less than two weeks remaining until the initial submission deadline of August 20, these applicants hope to secure a license in the first wave, guaranteeing their participation upon the market’s launch.

These three operators join Betano and Rei do Pitaco, who submitted their applications earlier in May and July, respectively.

Betsson, a Swedish operator, entered the Brazilian market in 2019 by acquiring a significant stake in Brazilian sportsbook operator Suaposta. The company has invested heavily in the region, with Latin America contributing a substantial portion of its regulated revenues in the second quarter.

“We believe we can navigate the Brazilian market effectively,” stated a Betsson representative. “We have a strong product and a respected brand, and reputation is crucial in this industry.”

Galera.bet has been active in Brazil since 2022 and joined the International Betting Integrity Association last year.

F12, based in Lisbon, launched its betting platform in Brazil in 2021.

Brazil’s Betting Market Poised for 2025 Launch

Industry projections estimate that Brazil’s betting sector could generate significant turnover by 2028.

The Secretariat of Prizes and Bets (SPA), under the Ministry of Finance, recently released its final regulations, outlining requirements for state contributions, monitoring, responsible gambling measures, and operator sanctions.

These regulations have paved the way for licensed betting brands to offer online games.
