The Investigative Police (PDI) of Chile and municipal officials of Estación Central raided a clandestine casino, in which they seized illegal slot machines. Authorities are also investigating the commission of crimes of child prostitution and drug sales in the property in said Santiago commune.

According to local media, the intervention was carried out based on an anonymous neighborhood complaint, which accused irregular situations in said establishment, and resulted in one person being arrested.

In dialogue with the press, the mayor of Estación Central, Felipe Muñoz, stated: “We hope to be able to establish the closure of this place. On the one hand, there is the situation that it functioned as a kind of casino, and the other place has a function similar to that of a tenement”.

We have found that slot machines from a clandestine casino operate in this place, and it is also being investigated whether child prostitution was taking place, something for which we also had previous complaints. The PDI’s Micro-trafficking 0 program is also present, reporting the existence of drugs in this place,” he detailed.

Likewise, it was indicated that the necessary coordinations are being carried out to determine the quantity of possible drugs found in the premises. These antecedents are established by the PDI, in charge of the proceedings.

In this context, Muñoz highlighted the importance of strengthening neighborhood complaints, since the situation was reported through an anonymous letter from a resident, one of those who were “quite frightened”. He added that there were other previous complaints.

In the sector next door there is a family. We are coordinating the social issue, so that our social workers can find a way in which these people can leave this place,” the mayor concluded.
