The former F1 driver Johnny Herbert was not discredited for the first time after he was guilty of promoting illegal gambling in the Netherlands. Promoting online casinos without a permit is prohibited in the Netherlands.
Johnny Herbert rode in Formula 1 from 1989 to 2000, and during his career he managed to win three Grand Prix titles. In 1995 he managed to get the first victory in his own country at the Grand Prix of Great Britain. In the same year he also won the Grand Prix of Italy, while his last victory was achieved at the Grand Prix of Europe in 1998.
After his active career, Herbert started working as an analyst at Sky Sports, where he disappeared from the stage for unknown reasons in 2023. He then decided to work as a steward of the Fédération Internationale de l’Autmobile (FIA).
Earlier this year, Herbert was sent away by the FIA, because he was also active as an analyst for a promotion agency. Among other things, the promotion agency had several online gambling companies as a customer, creating some commotion. The former F1 driver gave interviews to the agency, which were shared with (British) media.
The media posted the interviews on their websites, where promotion was made for various online casinos where players could bet on competitions that Herbert as a steward could influence.
Recently, such an interview with Herbert was also used to promote Illegal Online Gambling in the Netherlands, GPBLOG writes Thursday. According to the F1 site, the interview was sent to Dutch media, and this time it was chosen to promote an online casino with a Dutch name in the Dutch language.
The website, which was not announced by GPBLOG, also had a report that it is the undisputed number one in the field of online casinos in the Netherlands. In a clogged disclaimer, the illegal provider does indicate that they do not focus on the Netherlands:
“The message of this website is only intended for Dutch -speaking people who live outside the Netherlands.”
