The increased gambling tax and the entered play limits have had a negative impact on the results of Kambi in the first quarter of 2025. That is what the Sportsbook provider writes in its latest quarterly report. The turnover of Kambi fell by 4% compared to Q1 in 2024.

This week, software provider Kambi presented its quarterly figures of the first quarter of 2025. The provider achieved a turnover of € 41.5 million in the first three months of this year. This meant a decrease of 4% compared to the turnover in the first quarter of 2024.

In many cases, Dutch gamblers have to deal with Kambi’s software if they bet on sports at the legal online casinos in the Netherlands. Of the seventeen active bookmakers in the Netherlands, seven use Kambi:

The Netherlands is therefore mentioned in the quarterly report of the software supplier, but as a country that had a negative impact on the figures. The increased gambling tax and the play limits entered on 1 October 2024 pressed the results of Kambi in Q1 2025:

“A higher turnover and a stronger trade margin had a positive contribution, while new limits for deposits in the Netherlands, higher gambling -related taxes in multiple jurisdictions and new commercial conditions of certain renewed contracts had a negative influence.”

There were also things with a positive influence on the results of Kambi, including positive sports results. This would be mainly about bookmakers favorable results in large European football competitions such as the Premier League in England, the Bundesliga in Germany, and the Italian Serie A. Kambi does not specify which results or results in this competition were beneficial for Kambi and its customers.

Contract extended with betcity

The contract extension with BetCity has also been appointed in the quarterly report. The Bookmaker, nowadays in the hands of the British Entain, has been using the services of Kambi since the launch in October 2021.

However, the acquisition by Entain seemed to change that. At the acquisition, the British gambling company announced that Betcity would be transferred to the own platform of Entain, but it never happened. Earlier this year, Entain decided to extend the contract with Kambi for several years.
