Mateusz Moolhuizen has played in a convincing way on Sunday to victory in the Main Event of the Rotterdam Poker Series 2025. Moolhuizen dealt with, among others, Clyde Tjauw Foe, Tobias Peters, and Daniel Pastor. The victory earned him the main prize of € 47,803.
Last week Holland Casino Rotterdam was dominated by the new edition of the Rotterdam Poker Series. Due to the celebration of King’s Day on Saturday, a different setup had been chosen this year, with the Main Event and the High Roller a rest day.
Partly due to the festivities surrounding the birthday of King Willem-Alexander, the number of participants in the Main Event remained at 477 players, so that a total prize pool of almost € 250,000 could be distributed. The majority of this prize pool would only pay the organization on Sunday, because the ending of the € 675 Main Event was only planned that day.
The nine finalists had already qualified for the final day two days earlier, so that with a minimum of € 4,524 in prize money in their pocket, they could celebrate.
Mateusz Moolhuizen strongest in Rotterdam
On Sunday, the tournament of Evert-Jan Heijnen (ninth, € 4,524), who went down with Pocket Tienen against the Pocket Azen of Abraham Uittenbogaard with Pocket Tienen. Shortly thereafter, Stefan Leenen (eighth, € 5,914) lost his last chips to Daniel Pastor, who was lucky on his side with AAS wife.
Clyde Tjauw Foe (seventh, € 7,767) and Tobias Peters (sixth, € 10,193) then also had to leave the battle scene. Peters was unable to beat the pocket aces of Mateusz Moolhuizen with AAS-Ten, who from that moment took control. He then also eliminated Kelvin IZ (fifth, € 13,381) with Pocket Women against Vrouw-Boer Suited.
Pastor then calculated with former chip leader Bap de Haas (fourth, € 17,497), who lost Suited by Pocket Women with King-Boer. The third place turned out to be the highest attainable for Uittenbogaard, which as Shortstack recorded a deserving stage place for € 22,757.
Moolhuizen started the heads-up against Pastor with a nice lead, but the latter soon managed to get stacks. Yet Moolhuizen managed to take back the momentum quickly and force a decision. In the finishing touches, his AAS ten remained against AAS-Five, so Moolhuizen claimed the victory in Rotterdam. Pastor had to settle for second place for € 31,859 at the same time.
For Moolhuizen, his victory at the Holland Casino Poker Series is a new milestone in the poker, after he won the FPS Main Event in Paris more than a year ago for € 470,830. He also came close to a WSOP bracelet in 2022 by ending in a painful way as a runner-up in the $ 1,500 monster stack.
