In the latest episode of Radar, the television program will focus on the summary proceedings filed against Unibet. Through summary proceedings, players are trying to ensure that Unibet resumes providing the data that gamblers need to reclaim their money.
On Monday, May 19 at 8:25 PM, a new episode of the consumer program Radar from AVROTROS will air on NPO2. The program will look at the situation surrounding Unibet, now that several gamblers have chosen to file summary proceedings against the online casino.
Last week, it was revealed that Tom Beugelsdijk has also filed summary proceedings against Unibet, along with lawyer Benzi Loonstein. Previously, interest group Gokverliesterug also announced that it had filed summary proceedings against Unibet.
According to the charges, the gambling company is refusing to give players access to their data from before the legalization of online gambling in the Netherlands, when Unibet was still active without a Ksa license before 2021.
Radar will look at what gamblers can do if Unibet ignores a court ruling. The question is also why parties like Unibet are allowed to be active in the legal online gambling market in the Netherlands despite these events.
Previously in Kassa
At the beginning of April, the consumer program Kassa also paid extensive attention to Unibet. According to Kassa, the legal online provider was not taking its responsibility and was evading the rules in the Netherlands. It pointed to Unibet’s past, which was illegally active in the Netherlands before 2021.
Kassa also looked at Unibet’s performance since legalization, but the program went wrong several times in that segment. For example, it was described that gamblers who have registered with Cruks and have therefore unsubscribed from the possibility of gambling legally online still received emails from Unibet.
According to Kassa, this should not be possible or allowed, but in reality, the legal gambling sites cannot know who is registered in Cruks. According to the consumer program, things also went wrong with Unibet in the area of spending limits, but this did not take into account the difference between the limit with which you set what you can deposit, and the checks that are carried out if you exceed the deposit limit yourself.
Unibet itself gave an extensive response to the broadcast at the time, which can be read here.
