The Uthgra Sasso Casino, located in the Punta Mogotes area of the city of Mar del Plata, has closed its doors indefinitely due to the lack of payment to security personnel, according to Jorge González, general manager of the Uthgra Sasso Hotel, to which this annex of the Central Casino belongs.

In a press release, they highlighted that the security personnel payments are made by the Buenos Aires Lottery and Casino Institute.

According to the executive, the security service at the Sasso Casino is provided by the Police of the Province of Buenos Aires, and these breaches have been going on for several weeks. He also assured that although they tried to resolve the conflict, they received no response.

“It is an issue that dates back several weeks, which we offered to solve by making the payments to the security workers ourselves in order to keep the casino open under the security conditions required by the Institute itself. But the lack of will on their part and the breach of contract led Luis Barrionuevo to make this decision,” González warned.

With the decision, some 30 casino workers will be relocated between the Hotel and the Central Casino, awaiting future decisions regarding their positions.

The Sasso Casino has been around for a decade and has become an entertainment space for more than 100,000 people a year, especially this season, when Punta Mogotes and the south of Mar del Plata have a high flow of tourists looking for high-level proposals and spaces.

Finally, González clarified that the situation is not part of the complex’s work strategies and expressed his concern about what happened. “The back and forth we have experienced in recent weeks does not correspond to our way of working or serving the public, and that is why our institutional leader made this decision, which fills us with sorrow and concern,” he said.
