From one of the sector’s unions, they assured that the salary problem was resolved and therefore the staff will return to their duties with the reopening of the establishment.
According to statements from the Association of National Casino Employees (AECN), the casino will reopen on Thursday (30th) from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. “The operating hours were determined based on the police coverage schedule guaranteed by the security force coordinators,” they confirmed.
It should be noted that, although the commercial operation of legal gambling in casino halls is tendered by the Buenos Aires Government, the Casino Sasso has been operating for some time with extensions of direct contracts. Currently, while awaiting the new tenders, the casino is operated by the Boldt Group, while security is paid for by the State itself, through the Provincial Institute of Lottery and Casino (IPLyC).
Precisely, the employees in conflict due to lack of payment belonged to security personnel, whose claim led to the closure of the casino, affecting 30 workers who had been temporarily relocated between the hotel and the Central Casino.
Regarding the pending tenders, during the launch of the season, the president of the Provincial Institute of Lottery and Casinos, Gonzalo Atanasof, declared that “there has been progress in the tender specifications that will guarantee the investment that casinos need.”
The casinos awaiting calls for tenders in the Province of Buenos Aires are seven: Casino del Mar-Hermitage, Sasso, Miramar, Mar de Ajó, Tandil, Sierra de la Ventana and Necochea.
