Rengo Municipality Closes Illegal Gambling Operations

The Municipality of Rengo conducted an operation against illegal gambling in the city center, resulting in the closure of two establishments and the seizure of over 120 illegal slot machines.

The operation was carried out jointly by the Chilean Carabineros, Public Security, and Municipal Inspection, leading to the discovery of two businesses operating without commercial licenses and housing more than 120 unauthorized machines.

According to the municipality, the closed premises had been operated by individuals of Asian descent for nearly two years, “seriously violating current regulations and creating a risk for the community.”

Regarding the matter, the Mayor of Rengo, Enrique del Barrio, stated: “This action responds to the mandate we have strongly embraced: to decisively combat insecurity, reclaim the city center for formal commerce, and enforce the law without exceptions.”

“We will continue to inspect, because Rengo cannot tolerate some operating outside the regulations while others comply with effort and pay their permits,” he emphasized.

The municipality indicated that these types of operations will continue to be carried out regularly as part of a comprehensive urban security strategy and strengthening of public order.

“With these actions, the communal administration reaffirms its commitment to transparent, courageous, and close management to the real needs of the residents of Rengo,” concluded Del Barrio.
