Verbruggen Advances in COLOSSUS with Large Stack

On Sunday, thousands of players returned for the second day of the $500 COLOSSUS at the 2025 WSOP. The remaining field included several Dutch and Belgian players, who had already secured at least $1,010 in prize money. For Bouwe Claushuis, Martijn Dee, and Mark Broers, that was the highest achievable, as they left the tournament early.

Hakim Zoufri (1,593rd, $1,090), Thijs Hilbert (1,389th, $1,090), Marcel Vonk (1,278th, $1,160), and Hans Bosman (1,129th, $1,230) also failed to reach the top thousand. As a result, Mateusz Moolhuizen and Tom Verbruggen were the only remaining Dutch players, both of whom managed to make a deep run.

For Moolhuizen, the tournament came to a painful end when he lost a coin flip deep in the tournament for the chiplead. With , he couldn’t win against of Lok Chan and of Gary Armstrong due to an ace on the river. The Dutchman therefore finished in 186th place for $3,900.
