Dutch Poker Player “Bowrot-” Takes Second Place in GGWF Medium Leaderboard
After an intense grind of nearly a month and a half, Dutch poker player “Bowrot-” had to settle for second place in the GGWF Medium tournaments leaderboard on GGPoker. Fellow countryman “Armanus” also made an attempt, but finished in ninth place.
GGPoker hosted a new edition of the GG World Festival (GGWF) from May 4th to June 10th. The schedule included a staggering 1,600 events, with 400 events divided across four different buy-in levels: Low ($3+), Medium ($26+), High ($151+), and Super ($1,051).
Dutch poker players frequently logged in to participate in these events. This resulted in impressive performances in recent weeks from players like Jans Arends, Duco ten Haven, and Johannes Straver in the more expensive tournaments.
Intense Grind
Throughout the GG World Festival, Dutch players “Bowrot-” and “Armanus” attempted to accumulate as many points as possible for the leaderboards. “Bowrot-” won the Medium leaderboard a year ago, earning a prize of $40,000. This year, the two Dutch players once again chose to embark on an intense grind, participating in almost all tournaments daily.
Towards the end of the tournament series, there was a nerve-wracking battle between the defending champion, the Brazilian player “LambKiller97”, and Igor Zemtsov from Russia. At the start of the final day, the Dutch player held the top position, but ultimately fell just short of another victory in the Medium leaderboard.
He collected a total of 7,629.32 points over 400 events, slightly less than “LambKiller97” with 7,677.32. The top prize of $50,000 (C$47,500 + $2,500 ticket) therefore went to Brazil, but as a reward for his performance, “Bowrot-” still received $40,000 (C$37,500 + $2,500 ticket). His fellow grinder “Armanus” finished in ninth place for C$4,000.
