Another Bad Beat Jackpot Hits Quebec’s Playground Poker Club
Earlier this month, another Bad Beat Jackpot was triggered at the Playground Poker Club in Quebec. At one of the cash game tables, a player with a Royal Flush beat a straight flush, resulting in a jackpot of CAD$2.2 million (€1,382,460) being distributed.
Just three months prior, a Bad Beat Jackpot of CAD$2.5 million (€1.59 million) was won at the Casino du Lac-Leamy, also located in Quebec. This was the second-largest Bad Beat Jackpot in history at the time.
Last week, luck struck again in Quebec, this time at the Playground Poker Club. At a $1/$2 cash game table, a player holding the Ace and King of clubs made a Royal Flush on a board showing the Jack, Queen, Ten, and Seven of clubs, along with the Three of hearts. All chips went into the middle on the river, and his opponent, holding the Nine and Eight of clubs, suffered a significant bad beat.
However, the disappointment was short-lived, as this triggered a Bad Beat Jackpot of CAD$2,205,509. The player who lost the hand with the straight flush received CAD$882,000 (40%), while the winner of the hand received CAD$441,000 (20%) in addition to the pot. The remaining six players at the table, as well as other players in the poker room at the time of the jackpot, also split 20% of the prize.
Largest Bad Beat Jackpot Occurred in Kahnawake
While the players shared a massive Bad Beat Jackpot, it wasn’t the largest in history. In August 2023, players at a $1/$2 cash game table at the Playground Poker Club in Kahnawake, Canada, split the largest poker bad beat jackpot in history.
A player lost with quads tens against a straight flush, triggering a bad beat jackpot of CA$2,590,185, and the ‘lucky loser’ received 40% of the Bad Beat Jackpot, amounting to over CAD$1 million (€682,920).
