Maule Region Governor Supports Ferial Park Project with Casino

The regional governor of Maule, Pedro Álvarez-Salamanca, has expressed his support for the Ferial Park of Maule project. This project will be built on the grounds of the former International Fair of Talca (FITAL) and will include a casino operated by Dreams.

According to local news source Diario Talca, representatives from Dreams and the Central Agricultural Guild met with Álvarez-Salamanca at the regional government offices.

The meeting highlighted that the Ferial Park of Maule is expected to create 500 jobs and offer internships to students from rural technical schools associated with the Chilean Chamber of Construction, as well as students from Architecture and Engineering programs at the Universidad Autónoma de Chile.

“Today we were able to learn the details of the Ferial Park of Maule, from its construction, operation, jobs it will provide, details of the bidding process, among other things,” the governor stated.

“The Regional Government will always support initiatives that mean investment and development for our region, so we hope that the institutions in charge of the respective permits will soon pronounce on its feasibility,” he added.

Álvarez-Salamanca’s statement refers to the fact that the Municipality of Talca and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (Minvu) must determine if the structure of the former FITAL “is suitable for the risk conditions and if it complies with the land use stipulated in the Communal Regulatory Plan.”

It should be remembered that the Directorate of Hydraulic Works (DOH) determined that the property in question would remain “floodable” and that Dreams’ proposals to mitigate this problem would be insufficient. The position of both institutions regarding the project is awaited.

For his part, the Infrastructure Manager of Dreams, Raúl Ramírez, stated that “it is the company’s duty, as an involved party, to inform the Governor of Maule of the details of the project, whose improvement and adaptation were unanimously approved by the Resolutive Council of the Superintendency of Casinos.”

In turn, the president of the Central Agricultural Guild, Luis Urrutia, said: “We always said that the land of the former Fital should be valued. Return with the fairs. That it be a space for recreation, sports and entertainment for the Maule family and for the most varied productive and entrepreneurial sectors.”

“For that we needed a strategic partner. A leader in the development of projects in Chile and abroad and experts in the world of entertainment, such as Dreams,” he remarked.

Finally, Urrutia valued the authorization of the Resolutive Council to the latest modifications, which include the construction on concrete stilts, as a mitigation measure. “[This] demonstrates the seriousness and importance that a project like this has,” he stressed.
