Chilean Casinos Report Revenue Dip in Q1 2025
The Chilean Superintendency of Casinos (SCJ) reported that the 25 casinos operating in the country generated gross revenues (win) of CLP 145.185 billion during the first quarter of 2025. This is equivalent to USD 154.4 million, and represents a 3.7% decrease compared to the same period in 2024.
The regulatory body’s report indicated that these gross revenues resulted from a total of 1,788,327 visits, marking a 3.7% decline compared to the first quarter of the previous year.
Of the total visits, 1,689,729 were to the 22 casinos authorized under Law N°19.995, generating gross revenues of CLP 135.311 billion (USD 143.9 million).
This resulted in an average spend per visit of CLP 80,079 (USD 85.16) during the first quarter of 2025, a real increase of 0.7% compared to the same period in 2024.
Tax Contributions
The 22 casinos authorized under Law N°19.995 contributed a total of CLP 51.962 billion in taxes, equivalent to USD 55.3 million. This represents a year-on-year decrease of 3.4% in real terms.
This revenue is broken down as follows: CLP 22.366 billion (USD 23.8 million) in Specific Gaming Tax, distributed 50% to regional governments and 50% to municipalities to finance development projects.
The Value Added Tax (VAT) amounted to CLP 21.604 billion (USD 22.9 million), and the Entrance Fee Tax to Gaming Halls was CLP 7.992 billion (USD 8.5 million). Both taxes are allocated to the general funds of the Nation.
The casino that contributed the most in taxes during the first quarter of 2025 was Casino Monticello de Dreams with CLP 10.169.1 million (USD 10.8 million), followed by Marina del Sol Talcahuano with CLP 4.613.5 million (USD 4.9 million), Enjoy Coquimbo with CLP 3.607.9 million (USD 3.8 million), Enjoy Antofagasta with CLP 3.506.8 million (USD 3.7 million), and Enjoy Pucón with CLP 2.840.8 million (USD 3 million).
Economic Offers to Municipalities
The SCJ detailed that in the first quarter of 2025, casinos contributed a total of CLP 20.597 billion (USD 21.9 million) to municipalities as economic offers.
These payments are managed through the General Treasury of the Republic and distributed to each municipality within the same timeframe as the transfer of the specific gaming tax, i.e., the following month.
The casino that contributed the most in economic offers during the quarter was Enjoy Viña del Mar with CLP 7.996 billion (USD 8.5 million), followed by Enjoy Coquimbo with CLP 4.632.4 million (USD 4.9 million), Enjoy Pucón with CLP 1.164.1 million (USD 1.2 million), and Enjoy Antofagasta with CLP 1.070 million (USD 1.1 million).
