Jesse Lonis Victorious in Triton Poker Series Montenegro Main Event

Jesse Lonis has triumphed in the Main Event at the Triton Poker Series in Montenegro. This significant victory earned him over $3.4 million (€3 million) after a heads-up deal with defending champion Mikalai Vaskaboinikau.

While Dutch enthusiasts of high-stakes poker tournaments were not heavily represented in the No-Limit Hold’em events at the Triton Poker Series in Montenegro, Dirk Gerritse did participate in the Pot-Limit Omaha tournaments, achieving a commendable fourth place in the $25,000 event.

The climax of the NLHE tournaments occurred with the final day of the $100,000 Main Event, which attracted a total of 180 entries. Mikalai Vaskaboinikau, who won the tournament a year prior for $4.7 million, returned to compete in the final stages.

Notable players such as Artur Martirosian (ninth, $389,000), Fedor Holz (eighth, $470,000), and Stephen Chidwick (sixth, $879,000) were eliminated earlier in the final day. Christoph Vogelsang narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth for $1,463,000, while Kiat Lee (third, $1,807,000) secured the bronze.

The final showdown was between the defending champion and Jesse Lonis, who had previously won the $40,000 Mystery Bounty event for $1.4 million earlier in the series. The two players agreed to a deal during heads-up play, ultimately crowning Lonis as the winner, marking his third Triton Poker title.

As a result of the deal, Lonis received $3,446,298, while Vaskaboinikau cashed out with $2,927,702 for his impressive run.
