Marcel Vonk Finishes Third in $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. at 2025 WSOP

Marcel Vonk finished third last night in the $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. event at the 2025 World Series of Poker, narrowly missing out on his second WSOP bracelet. Vonk received a prize of $91,545 for his performance, while Andrey Zhigalov won the tournament for the second time in his career.

On the final day of the $1,500 H.O.R.S.E., Marcel Vonk was in action, seeking the second bracelet of his career. At the start of the day, the Dutchman was twelfth in chips with eighteen players remaining.

Vonk had a fantastic start, quickly eliminating two players in two hands of Razz after reaching the final two tables. He eventually reached the final table fifth in chips. The Dutchman then became short-stacked but doubled up in Razz against Sachin Bhargava.

After Bhargava finished seventh for $25,198, Joseph Santagata (sixth, $33,885) and Travis Kubato (fifth, $46,384) were eliminated before the dinner break. At that point, Vonk was the absolute short stack, but he secured another pay jump after the dinner break with the elimination of Tal Avivi (fourth, $64,607).

Third place proved to be the highest achievable position for Vonk, as he lost all his chips in Stud. As a result, he had to settle for a prize of $91,545. Following the elimination of Vonk, Andrey Zhigalov took the title in the tournament he also won seven years ago. Thomas Taylor finished as runner-up for $131,916 in Event #39 of the 2025 World Series of Poker.
