Toy and family entertainment giant Mattel is launching its UNO Social Clubs this week, a new nationwide pop-up experience that brings the classic card game into a social event format, debuting in Las Vegas.
The first activation will take place from July 18-20 at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, where a contest winner and a guest will gain exclusive access to a fully customized UNO suite.
The space includes UNO-themed decor, a private bowling alley, a technicolor game room, and a personal game host. Mattel held a contest on TikTok to determine the lucky winner of the first UNO Social Club experience.
The event will showcase different versions of the classic card game, including:
Ray Adler, Vice President and Global Head of Games at Mattel, expressed his enthusiasm for the launch:
“We created UNO Social Clubs to reimagine what game night can be — bringing people together for real-world fun, connection, and some friendly competition.”
The Las Vegas UNO Social Club marks just the beginning of this new concept. New UNO Social Club pop-ups will launch in major U.S. cities later this year, transforming bars and venues into game night destinations with themed drink menus, photo opportunities, and tournament-style play.
UNO, created in 1971 by Merle Robbins, is a popular American multiplayer “shedding”-type game where the main objective is to be the first player to get rid of all the cards in their hand. Mattel’s new venture positions itself as a means for people to reinvent game nights, prioritizing social interaction and a touch of luxury.
