Max Broens Wins GGMasters High Rollers on GGPoker

On Sunday, Max Broens, playing under his nickname “xtremeMakeover,” achieved a stunning victory in the $1,050 GGMasters High Rollers. His win on GGPoker earned him a prize of $160,576 (€140,419), while fellow Dutchman Derk van Luijk finished in ninth place.

While much attention is currently focused on the upcoming 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP), many dedicated poker players were at their computers for another day of the GG World Festival (GGWF) on GGPoker.

One of the tournaments traditionally scheduled for Sunday was the $1,050 GGMasters High Rollers. The tournament had a guaranteed prize pool of $750,000, but ultimately, 941 players participated, creating a total prize pool of $941,000.

Leading up to the final table, where the majority of the prize money was to be distributed, Teun Mulder (31st, $3,261) and Luc van der Beek (47th, $2,580) were eliminated. However, two Dutch players, Max Broens and Derk van Luijk, managed to reach the final table.

GGMasters Title for Broens

For EPT Monte Carlo winner Van Luijk, the final table came to a quick end in ninth place for $16,057. Broens, who in March cashed for $102,458 in the $50 Mini Main Event of the WSOP Circuit on GGPoker, played his way to the final four with a significant chip lead.

There, he managed to eliminate the Belgian “Mr Boubou” (fourth, $67,714) and “LeBroHbKATV” (third, $90,298) with ace-two against king-six and pocket queens, respectively. This gave him a huge advantage heading into the heads-up match against Damir Zhugalin.

Within three hands, the chips were all in with two-two against Ace-Queen. The flop Ace-Four-Three was great for the Kazach, but the turn Five gave the Dutchman a straight. Broens then secured the GGMasters title with the Nine on the river.

Title for Pieter Aerts Too

In addition to the Dutch success, one of their southern neighbors also managed to win a title at the GGWF on GGPoker. In the 257-S: $2,625 Grand Prix Europe, Pieter Aerts emerged victorious, defeating a field of 74 players. This earned the Belgian a top prize of $33,321.
