Casino Jubilee Suspended in Naucalpan, Mexico Due to Lack of Documentation
The State Government of Mexico has announced the suspension of activities at Casino Jubilee, located in the municipality of Naucalpan. This action was taken after representatives of the establishment failed to provide the necessary documentation proving its legal operation during an inspection.
The inspection was carried out by personnel from the Administrative Verification Institute of the State of Mexico (Inveamex), an agency under the Legal Counsel, in collaboration with the General Coordination of Civil Protection and Comprehensive Risk Management.
According to local media reports, authorities confirmed that the gaming venue, situated in the Santa Cruz Acatlán neighborhood, had been operating and open to the public since May 15th, despite lacking the required authorizations.
In addition to sealing the entrances of the casino, the Inveamex team left a summons for the legal representatives to appear before the competent authority on June 12th. They are required to present the necessary documentation to validate the casino’s legal standing.
“The State of Mexico reaffirms its commitment to security, legality, and the protection of individuals. We urge citizens to report any establishment operating outside the regulatory framework through the official channels of Inveamex,” stated the Edomex government.
Municipal Government’s Stance
The Naucalpan government stated that the authorization and municipal permits for Casino Jubilee were granted during the previous administration. A criminal complaint has been initiated against former mayor Angélica Moya Marín, as well as against the casino itself.
Reportedly, the local administration will proceed legally to halt the Jubilee project, citing administrative irregularities from the previous government and complaints from residents of Santa Cruz Acatlán.
The municipal president of Naucalpan, Isaac Montoya Márquez, has denied that his administration, which began in January of this year, granted any permits for the operation of this or any other casino. He asserted that he “will not be complicit in cases of corruption or administrative mismanagement.”
“We will act according to what is within our purview as a municipal authority. This is a case that we clearly and forcefully pointed out during the campaign, that there had been an irregularity in the granting of approval by the former mayor. Without the required procedures, they facilitated the delivery of authorizations for them to start operating,” he commented.
It is worth noting that President Claudia Sheinbaum was recently asked about the opening of this casino, considering it would be the first to open during her administration. She responded that her Secretary of the Interior, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, would review this particular case, but that her policy of not issuing new licenses remains in effect.
