Grupo Comar Prepares to Open New Casino in Santiago de Compostela

Grupo Comar, a Galician company in the gaming sector, is preparing to open its new casino in Santiago de Compostela, the capital of the autonomous community of Galicia. The opening is scheduled for the last quarter of 2024.

According to local news source La Voz de Galicia, the Spanish operator is progressing with the renovation work on the premises, located on Avenida Vilagarcía, and with the selection and training of professionals who will be in charge of the new casino, such as croupiers, waiters, cashiers, and security personnel, among others.

“The arrival of furniture has been constant this week, and when everything is ready, it will be time to pass the administrative and security reviews to verify that the establishment, which years ago was a supermarket, meets all the requirements,” sources stated.

It was also noted that in Spain there is no regulated training to become a croupier, but specialized school courses last between 12 and 20 weeks. Certain communication skills, manual and mental dexterity, and availability to work during early morning hours, holidays, and weekends are required.

It is worth remembering that, in June of this year, Grupo Comar obtained the permits for this new casino, which will be an extension of the Casino Atlántico, which operates in the city of La Coruña. Previously, the Xunta de Galicia denied authorization for the opening of the casino in the Hotel Araguaney.
